Crescent City / Hiouchi – Slant Bridge, Smith River

Link to Google Maps location

Directions: From US 199, turn south on South Fork Rd. (CR427). Go over one bridge, then look for signs for a right turn to Forks River Access and Boat Ramp. Park in the parking area. Then walk down the ramp to the no parking sign before the ramp turns to the left. Follow the foot path down to the river. Dive from beach.

Dive site info: There may be a slight current down stream. Dive this site when flow is less than 2000 cfs. Check  https://water.weather.gov for river flow rater. Water temp in April was 49F. Visibility was 30-40’. Excellent dive with easy entry/exit into water although the short trail between the paved road and water is a little tricky but easily doable as well. There was something super cool about seeing a bridge above the water while diving in the cool, clear fresh water.
